November 2020 Newsletter

Greetings Family! 

We've had a bit of an exciting time since our A/B schedule transition plan went into effect! We hope our Dennis Families didn't have to go long without power, and that everyone was able to stay safe during the ice storm and subsequent recovery days.

We expect new challenges to navigate as everyone gets their footing with the A/B schedule; teachers, parents and kids alike. If you have a concern, idea or question, please do not hesitate to reach out. In the meantime, below are highlights and links to news for our Dennis Dolphin Community this month. - Help Us Help the Children -

 

During the holiday season, James L Dennis Elementary adopts children in need through the Putnam City Schools CareShare program. Please help us purchase needed items and small gifts for the 12 children our school adopted as a whole. Due to Covid-19 it was decided the safest way to fill needs for these children would be to collect monetary donations and task our PTO to do the shopping. We aim to donate a combination of clothing and toys to each child, and have a goal of raising $960 to help make that happen. 


Please help us make the holidays special for these children. 

Donate online at www.jldpto.com, through the PTO app -or- you can send cash or checks (made out to “JLD PTO”) to the school in an envelope labeled as “CareShare”. Donations accepted thru Dec. 1st. 


Together, we can bring joy to children-in-need; children who would otherwise have nothing to unwrap on Christmas morning.

We have 1 member meeting each quarter. We would love to hear from you & see you there! AS A BONUS, when you attend... your name is entered into a gift-card door prize drawing! 2nd Semester - Enrollment Notice

"Your student will automatically be enrolled in the traditional in-person learning path unless you opt-out at www.putnamcityschools.org/s2 by

 Friday November 20th, 2020. 

Traditional in-person learning is currently an A/B schedule. The schedule is subject to change at any given time in the semester. In-person learning may be five days a week, an A/B schedule, or full Distance Learning based on COVID protocols. The opt-out option is Putnam City School-at-Home."

Don't Forget: Students can not be dropped off earlier than 8am. No visitors are allowed in the building at this time, and both the front and back loop are open for drop off in the AM.

Adult and Youth sizes available in 4 different patterns! Price: $10 each. Available to order in the JLD PTO Store on our website & app only!

*Masks are made to order monthly with our vendor. Monthly order cut-off date is the 8th, to ensure your mask can be fulfilled and delivered by end of that same month. (Orders received after the 8th will be processed with the following month's cutoffand delivery.)

Dennis T-Shirts ~ LAST CHANCE!

No problem! Make sure you have a Box Tops account. Then, forward your email receipt to receipts@boxtops4education.com using the same email that's associated with your BTFE account!  

BOX TOPS CLASSROOM CONTEST

The classroom with the most boxtops will get a sno-cone party at the end of the year! You can tag your receipts in the app with your teacher's name to count towards your child's classroom! (See the "Give Credit" video below).

You can also submit clipped box tops, as long as they are still in date. (It's a totally valid double-credit if you both clip  & scan your receipt on the app! Win - Win!!) Your child can turn any clipped boxtops to their teacher. Please turn in all clipped boxtops to the school by the 2nd week of February.
